Evergreen|A Teapot of Blossoming Vitality

- Heinrich Wang

Inspired by the blooming vitality of spring, Evergreen transforms the rhythms of nature into a teapot of elegance and reverence. The body is composed of overlapping petals, each curve and surface forming gentle waves—like mountain ridges and rippling spring water. The central water chamber reflects the arcs of each petal, evoking a poetic image of “mountains within water, water within mountains.”

Visually, the design features a rare circular composition. The teapot body and arched handle create a centered, focused structure. Viewed from the side, the spout subtly merges with the outer curve—resembling a mountain spring hidden in the mist. This harmony between symmetry and restraint elevates the piece to one of ceremonial dignity, contrasting with more casual, everyday teapots.

The rising ridges along the rim are a technical highlight. Their uplifted lines—gentle yet strong—echo the contours of mountains, and require precise control during firing. These elements give the teapot its sculptural tension, as if spring hills were rising with latent life. The squared base anchors the form, balancing the vertical energy with grounded poise. The arching handle, like a rainbow bridge, links heaven and earth.

Pouring tea becomes a gesture of silent reverence—a ritual of presence. Hand, vessel, and tea converge to lead the user into a state of focused stillness.  Evergreen is not only a symbol of spring—it embodies the poetics of form, proportion, and contemporary calm at the heart of “Qi・Du”: finding grace between structure and soul, between design and contemplation.
