Curated by Heinrich Wang, this immersive exhibition redefines the rhythm of modern craft
In a world where everything moves fast, slowing down has become an act of quiet power.
“Flow • Spread • Slow – SLOHAS in Craft”, curated by renowned porcelain artist Heinrich Wang and organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, invites visitors to reawaken their senses, reconnect with materials, and reimagine the role of craft in everyday life.
More than a traditional exhibition, this is a cultural movement—an invitation to explore craft as a way of living, perceiving, and sustaining. Divided into three thematic zones—Flow, Spread, and Slow—the show unfolds like a conversation between the past and future of craftsmanship.
🌊 Flow|The Freedom of Sensory Awakening
The first zone, Flow, greets you with a breathtaking suspended installation made from 1,600 recycled ceramic shards, forming a 7-meter diameter constellation above the central hall. Light weaves through its porous layers, casting shifting shadows across the floor as air and visitors move below.
This installation is more than structure—it is philosophy in form. It embodies the Taiwanese craft ethos of truth, goodness, and beauty, where making is sincere, creation is kind, and materials are honored.

Beloved
Tea Set by Heinrich Wang
At the center of Flow is a quietly powerful piece: Pure Love, a tea set designed by Heinrich Wang. With its seamlessly integrated lid and body, rounded silhouette, and warm porcelain texture, the set evokes both a childhood cradle and the tender shelter of a mother’s palm.
It is a gesture of love, not in words—but in form, feel, and function.
🌱 Spread|The Expanding Roots of Sustainability and Technology
In the Spread zone, tradition meets innovation. This space showcases how craft is evolving through:
-
AI-generated design and parametric modeling
-
3D printing experiments and digital fabrication
-
Yii+ Project, blending spiritual artifacts and virtual craft in the metaverse through a Spatial virtual gallery
Alongside digital exploration, this section highlights sustainable material practices from leading Taiwanese studios.
Here, sustainability is not a trend—it’s a system of living and making, deeply rooted in ethics and ecology.
🧘♂️ Slow|The Tempo of Creation and the Rhythm of Reflection
The final section, Slow, invites visitors to decelerate and observe—craftspeople create on-site, allowing guests to witness the quiet process of making.
Ceramic artist Jo-Chu Chen leads the first round of live creation, with more to follow throughout the exhibition. This is not a spectacle, but a meditative exchange—between maker, material, and viewer. In this space, creation becomes contemplation.
“Speed is for making, but slowness is for feeling.”
