The Mid-Autumn Festival and Eastern Tea Culture
The Mid-Autumn Festival is more than a time of reunion—it is the perfect occasion to share tea. As Heinrich Wang notes in The Will of the Teapot, a tea gathering...
Riding the waves means riding the wind, flowing with the water, and embracing momentum—with open heart and wide vision.
— Heinrich Wang
“Dancing with the Sea” is a poetic teaware trio—cup, saucer, and pot—crafted to embody the fluid power of water and the grace of motion. Inspired by the oceanic energy , this modern porcelain set reflects a philosophy of movement, harmony, and auspicious blessing.
Each component in the set is shaped around the traditional Chinese “Ruyi” motif—symbolizing fortune and smooth flow. The cup’s handle evokes both a leaping fish and a splash of water, while the saucer’s cloud-like lines echo the tranquil ripples of the sea. The teapot, compact and round, complements the ensemble with calm elegance.
✦ Design Highlights
• Ruyi Forms × Leaping Fish
The auspicious Ruyi motif flows across the entire set—from the lip of the cup to the pot’s silhouette. A lively fish leaps from beneath the handle, symbolizing abundance, joy, and forward motion.
• Saucer as Sea
The plate features a soft wave-like texture with a wishful cloud shape, offering visual rhythm and functional balance. It’s a visual metaphor of water’s adaptability and grace.
• Meaningful Design
The teapot balances ergonomic comfort with symbolic form, enhancing the ritual of brewing and pouring tea with a sense of ceremony.
