為什麼是〈美麗彩虹〉｜Why This Piece

Every Step Matters

The artist’s words—“Walk with integrity and the road will open; act with resolve and you will arrive”—express the work’s central idea. Its blessing is not reserved for the destination. It begins with every step taken well.

Horns Transformed into a Ribbon

The curling horns extend into a red ribbon in flight, bringing the stillness of white porcelain into dialogue with the movement of color.

Confident Yet Grounded

A dramatically narrowed waist gathers strength into the chest and hind legs. All four hooves remain firmly placed, creating a figure that stands proud without becoming restless or overstated.

A Demanding Porcelain Form

The long, curling ribbon is highly vulnerable to distortion and breakage during forming and firing. Each section must be individually supported by kiln setters so the sculpture can preserve its forward-reaching lines.

Meaningful Moments

Promotion and New Appointment
A meaningful promotion gift for someone accepting a new role, leading a team, or carrying greater responsibility. It wishes them the confidence and composure to step steadily into what comes next.
Entrepreneurship and New Ventures
Suitable for a business launch, opening, new project, or organizational transition. The advancing figure conveys the courage to begin and the perseverance to turn intention into action.
Graduation and Life Transitions
A considered gift for graduation, career change, relocation, or a new journey. It encourages the recipient to trust their direction and recognize that every step is already becoming part of the future.
Interior Display and Collection
At approximately 30 cm wide, the sculpture is suited to an entrance console, study, office, or corporate reception area. Allow sufficient viewing distance and open space around the head and trailing ribbon to preserve its forward movement.

The Force of a Step Forward

The ram raises its head and advances one foreleg. Strong limbs and a sharply gathered waist create a distinct sense of tension, capturing the instant of movement rather than presenting a static zodiac figure.

Horns Becoming a Ribbon in Flight

The spiraling horns extend outward and transform into a red ribbon lifted by the wind. The ribbon intensifies the sense of motion and turns the rainbow from a distant destination into a trace left by the journey itself.

Beauty Formed Through Choice and Practice

Beauty in this work is grounded in choosing a direction and continuing to act upon it. Its proud bearing is not self-display. It comes from knowing why one moves forward and being willing to build that path step by step.

Design Concept

A Rainbow of Promise is a white porcelain ram sculpture composed around an advancing figure and a ribbon in flight. It expresses the belief that integrity, perseverance, and self-confidence allow a person to move steadily toward what they value.

The ram’s grounded stride forms the center of the sculpture, while its curling horns become a vivid red ribbon streaming behind. The clear white porcelain silhouette and moving accent of color give visible form to purpose in action.

Its blessing is not for success arrived at by chance. It honors the person who has understood their direction and continues to act upon it. Each considered step becomes part of a landscape that could not have existed without the journey.

Occasions or Usage

The sculpture has a strong horizontal direction. Leave open space in front of the ram’s head and behind the red ribbon so nearby objects do not interrupt its movement.

Dark wood, stone, or a restrained solid-color background will help distinguish the white porcelain form and red ribbon. Display the work on a stable surface and avoid areas where its extended elements may be struck.

FAQs

What do the red ribbon and raised posture represent?

The advancing posture represents integrity, perseverance, and the confidence to follow one’s own direction. The red ribbon grows from the curled horns and streams behind the figure, forming the sculpture’s rainbow motif.

Rather than portraying the rainbow only as a reward waiting in the distance, the work suggests that every purposeful step becomes part of the beauty created along the way.

Who is A Rainbow of Promise suitable for as a gift?

The sculpture is suitable for promotions, new appointments, entrepreneurship, business openings, graduations, career changes, project launches, and major achievements.

It is especially meaningful for someone preparing to accept a new role or begin a new chapter with confidence and purpose.

Is the Chinese zodiac animal a ram, sheep, or goat?

All three terms—ram, sheep, and goat—may appear in English descriptions of the Chinese zodiac sign 羊. The Chinese character is broader than any single English species term, so the translation varies according to cultural context and the visual character of a particular work.

NewChi uses ram for A Rainbow of Promise because its prominent curled horns and confident bearing are most naturally described that way in English. It still belongs to the Chinese zodiac sign 羊, which may also be called the Year of the Sheep or Year of the Goat.
